About Sweethearts & Mavericks


The American Heart Association proudly presents the Sweethearts and Mavericks program, open to high school sophomores. From August 2025 through May 2026, students embark on a transformative journey, actively participating in a program meticulously designed to educate them about heart-healthy lifestyles and the prevention of heart disease, all while fostering a deep commitment to lifelong heart health, community service, and leadership.


Our Mission
The mission of the Sweethearts & Mavericks program is clear: to empower a new generation with life-saving knowledge, nurturing a genuine dedication to heart health, community service, and leadership. Throughout their participation, students gain valuable leadership skills, explore the art of teamwork, and master the art of fundraising to support crucial research in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Moreover, they receive training in Hands-Only CPR and acquire a wealth of heart health-related information.
