What is your “why?”
Because as an educator and former nurse from a developing country that knows firsthand that heart diseases are real and are killing women every day. Cardiovascular diseases are the number 1 killer in Latino Women. Also, I believe in continue to educate myself and feel responsible to educate others about this diseases.
What are you most looking forward to with Vestido Rojo 2016?
I am looking to refresh my knowledge, learn from others and engage more Latino Women to enlarge our audience and help me create more awareness and understanding on the importance of HBP and cardiovascular diseases in their own families and circles. Also to realized that these diseases can be prevented.
How many years have you attended Vestido Rojo?
4 years!
How has Vestido Rojo changed your life?
It has been a wonderful opportunity to inner reflection and take a time for me. I am constantly traveling, teaching workshops and helping communities that sometimes I forget about me. Now I take time for good meals, relax and am more active. Also it has been a wonderful resource to meet other Latino Women who share the same concerns.
Interesting fact about you?
I just returned from Mexico Where I opened a clinic in the community of Tetzilquila on the sierra of Mixtla de Altamirano in Veracruz, Mexico. On opening day we attended 120 patients!
What I like about Broken Arrow?
I love the people and the sense belonging. We are a tight community that look for each other and help each other.
