The American Heart Association Sweethearts and Mavericks are high school sophomores who actively participate in a program designed to teach them about heart healthy lifestyles and the prevention of heart disease through education and volunteerism. The Tulsa Heart Ball has raised more than $10,000,000 for the important work of the American Heart Association in the last 49 years as we fight cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Please help me raise money for the American Heart Association. When I was in second grade, my dad was rushed to the hospital because of health issues. My mom and family soon came to realize all of my father's main arteries were nearly 100 percent blocked and his heart was functioning at only 11 percent. Needless to say, his heart and overall health were in a dire situation. It was the wonderful doctors and the hands of God that saved my father. My family and I were very lucky in how everything worked out. Most people don't walk out of open heart surgery like my father did. Rehab took time but all of it was worth it. I'm lucky to have my father still with me and to have so many wonderful memories with him. This is exactly why I want to raise money for the American Heart Association. I don't want any family to have to suffer from heart disease. I want families to have more memories to come, kids to have fathers, and grandchildren to have grandparents. As humans it is our calling to help whenever we can, and now is your moment.
