The American Heart Association Sweethearts and Mavericks are high school sophomores who actively participate in a program designed to teach them about heart healthy lifestyles and the prevention of heart disease through education and volunteerism. The Tulsa Heart Ball has raised more than $10,000,000 for the important work of the American Heart Association in the last 49 years as we fight cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Hello Family and Friends! The picture you see is my grandad and I in 2007. We were staying warm when we had that ice storm in Tulsa that year. He was a great man but he died in 2015. This year I felt I would honor him by joining with the American Heart Association to help them fight against heart disease and stroke. I will be helping the community through various service projects and learning about healthy living. So far I have learned that heart disease is the #1 killer and stroke #2. The AHA is continually finding ways to help prevent and educate others about heart disease and stroke. My grandfather unfortunately had both. Both diseases can be quick killers. I know this first hand, one day I was with my grandad, the next he was gone. If there is a way to prevent this, shouldn't we try? I hope you will consider joining me in the effort to help prevent and educate about these diseases. Together we can change lives!
